In this hands – on course you will learn a number of different ways to prepare vector files and laser cut and etch your images onto paper, card, acrylic, fabric and wood. No previous experience necessary. Course notes provided. This workshop is suitable for all levels of ability, the emphasis is on introducing you to the full potential of the laser cutter and providing the opportunity to complete a small personal project. Bring a drawing, quotation and photographic image and learn how to prepare, cut and/or etch these images. This course is ideal if you are just curious about laser cutting, if you have access to a laser cutter and would like to know how to get the best out of it, if you are thinking of buying one, or if you are planning to use laser cutting in your creative work and possibly outsource to a commercial laser cutting company, or would like to come back to the studio and laser cut your own work, after the course.Understanding the process fully will enable you to make informed decisions in all of the above situations. It is also just a great, fun weekend.

All Materials  & refreshments provided. Please bring your own lunch or there are are places nearby to buy lunch.

We have undertaken a COVID19 Risk Assessment and a number of Health and Safety measures have been put in place at the studio, including paper towels dispensers and liquid soap at all sinks and hand sanitiser at the Laser Cutter. The studio will be thoroughly cleaned prior to and during the course. Your temperature will be checked with a contactless thermometer as you enter the studio. Disposable masks and plastic gloves will be provided for all participants and desks are positioned for 2 metre social distancing.

Your safety is our highest priority and we are delighted to have had excellent feedback from course participants in relation to the Health and Safety measures introduced.

Edinburgh is a great city to visit for a few days. There are lots of reasonably priced Airbnb’s or B&B’s and Hotels nearby  if you are traveling to attend the course.
